Don't remove the grease unless there is so much that it's causing high pressure and pushing the wires out of the black plastic plug again. Remove the relays, take the wiring plug off the frame, turn upside down and carefully inspect all wires ensuring each wire in turn is pushed firmly into the black plastic plug. I suffered the classic "relay" symptoms, sudden loss of power, mystery regaining of power to be followed by power loss again. I believe these "RELAY" problems are not the relay but in fact the female connectors the relays push into being pushed downward and almost out of the plastic holder. More changes are coming, and I'm eager to draw inspiration from others. Thus far on my bike I've added the TEC 2-1 and a K&N air filter. In any case, I am just relating my experience in case others with the same issue are considering just buying relays off Amazon they are apparently not all created equally. I've ordered a new tip-over sensor, as I understand this is another potential weak point. Maybe there is something truly superior about Hitchcock's relays. Considering that this was at least 50 miles further than I had ever gotten before without it quitting, I believe the relays are the likely origin of the problem, but I still haven't fixed it. I was able to log 63 miles.before it quit again. I ended up buying the Panasonics from Moesler. They came quickly, but did not fix the problem. I immediately ordered "heavy duty 30 amp 5 pin relays" from Amazon. Thanks to this forum, I was able to clean out much of the grease. Slightly less dangerous, but far from acceptable. I soon discovered that cycling the red kill switch would re-awaken the engine while barely losing momentum. These "quits" became frequent, at one point happening 3 times within a mile. The next day (April Fool's) was my first engine "quit". It was technically used, but with only 300 miles. I bought my 2020 650 Interceptor "Glitter and Dust" on March 31. I finally realized that the email validation was sent to my spam folder. I'm new to the site, but I've been lurking and learning for a couple weeks while waiting on the moderator to approve me joining.
